An interconnect cable’s function is straightforward and simple- to transfer the potential (voltage) from one end to the other as quickly and precisely as possible. Only a small amount of current is needed by the destination device. And power transfer isn’t necessary. However even this task will be compromised by shortcomings in the design and materials that the cable is constructed from. The two primary enemies of success are capacitance and dielectric losses. A secondary issue but still very important is noise immunity. We address these issues with a construction optimizing low capacitance and good shielding. We do this with fine conductors arranged in a quad with the positive and negative conductors interleaved, all insulated from each other with a very low capacitance, low loss dielectric. This is encased in a double shielded jacket with a static dissipative outer cover that will reduce the effects of nearby noises and static fields. The low capacitance and low loss dielectric will minimize the signals lost to the transmission and help ensure a faithful presentation at the destination. The heavy shielding will conduct any interference, even at high frequencies back to ground and keep it away from the delicate signals on the cable.
